One of the largest opal deposits in the world was found in central Wyoming sitting adjacent to a US Highway. Field studies by Dan Hausel identified giant resources of common opal and the first reported fire opal & precious opal in Wyoming. The source for the elusive Sweetwater agate was also discovered.
